‘Team Grandma’ walks for hospice - Hingham, MA - The Hingham Journal

Many of you know that I have been an active volunteer for Hospice for the past six years.

Hospice is an organization that is profoundly important to my family. The Hospice team supported my wife, Charlotte, when she was facing her final days.

Hospice cares for the terminally ill and their families. The Hospice team – doctors, nurses, social workers and chaplains, make every patient as comfortable as possible, most often in their own home. They help people live with dignity, until the end of their life. Additionally, Hospice shows families how to care for a dying loved one and supports the family emotionally and socially. The Hospice goal is to help patients and their families have closure and peace.

Last year, Hospice caregivers helped hundreds of patients live life to the fullest with dignity, compassion and respect, and provided more than $250,000 in free care for patients facing end of life care. Hospice provides care even if a patient does not have insurance. Every dollar raised by the Walk benefits Hospice of the South Shore patients. This year, the goal is to raise $300,000.

On Saturday, March 13, “Team Grandma” will be participating in the Walk at the South Shore Plaza. Our team’s goal is to raise $5,000. Please consider making a donation for this most worthy cause. All checks should be made payable to “Walk for Hospice of the South Shore” and sent to me at 65 Bel Air Road, Hingham, MA 02043.

I promise you that your support will make a wonderful difference. You will give kindness, compassion and loving care to someone at the most trying time of life. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Bob Falvey lives at 65 Bel Air Road.
